About

As a child my greatest please was drawing. My ambition was to become a fashion illustrator. When I graduated from high school at the age of sixteen, Pratt Institute in New York was not an option available to my parents.

I went to college and ultimately became an office manager for an internal medicine practice but continued to paint, mostly in oils and pastels.

In 1985 I decided to take my art to the next level and joined a local art society and began attending demonstrations. At the time I was painting in oils on gessoed panels and found it to be tedious, although I was pleased with the result.

The watercolor bug bit me after attending workshops with some well-known watercolorists whose work I admired. I struggled with watercolor for a few years trying to remain loose while continuing to render tight oils. I decided to pursue watercolor exclusively and my work evolved into a very detailed approach. I had to follow my heart and learned to work in a highly detailed way by using transparent color to layer and glaze to achieve intense darks. The subjects I choose are usually determined by a great shift in value.

Throughout my journey I have been fortunate to be accepted to many national and regional shows. I am a signature member of sixteen national watercolor societies including a fellow of the AAPL in New York City, the Hudson Valley Art Club and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York City.

I am privileged to be a signature member of both the National Watercolor Society and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. I have been honored with numerous awards including the second highest award at the Philadelphia Watercolor Society (the oldest watercolor society in America) and the Watercolor Medal of Honor at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.

I have been fortunate to be able to pursue my greatest passion and it is always my hope that my paintings bring joy to people who appreciate and purchase my work. I am currently working on a series of still life paintings and look forward to sharing the final results soon.
